Performance Workshops

 

These classes explore various aspects of creative expression including singing, acting, movement and dance. Participation builds many types of literacy while developing intuition, reasoning and imagination.

 

  • -Everyone gets a part! 

  • -All levels of experience are welcome

  • -All students participate in every class

  • -Rehearsal 2 hours per week for 6 weeks

  • -2 performances on the Studio Stage for family and friends

 

Our open enrollment policy allows anyone to enter our programs regardless of previous experience. Our instructors specialize in challenging and developing students no matter what level they are at when they enter. Participants “learn by doing” not only from the instructor but also from each other.

3-DAY MUSICAL THEATRE BOOT CAMP: “CATS”

Ages: 8 to 18

Classes: Daily 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

November 24 – November 26, 2008

Showcase: November 26 at 3:00 pm

Tuition: $250

Musical Instructor: Ken Jones

Dance Instructor: Helen Buck

Performers in this group will memorize selected scenes, lines, songs and choreography for this 15-minute showcase performed for family and friends.  Students develop their artistic voice, both individually and within an ensemble. Learn audition technique for musical theatre with equal emphasis on singing and dancing. Participation will increase self-confidence and boost self-esteem.

 

TEENS PLAY PERFORMANCE CLASS: “The Secret Life Of Girls”

Ages: 13 to 18

Limit 10 Girls

Rehearsals: Wednesdays, 7:00-9:00 pm

February 11-March 18, 2009

(Tech/dress rehearsal: March 11, 7:00-9:00 pm)

Performances: Wed. March 18 at 8:00 pm and Sun. March 22 at 7:00 pm

Tuition $185

Performers in this group will memorize lines from selected scenes for this one-hour show performed for family and friends.  “Abby wants to be accepted as a new member of the school’s championship volleyball team. But Stephanie, the popular team captain, is upset that her friends have been spending time with Abby, so she begins an IM campaign to keep Abby off the court. The bullying, rumors, and backstabbing spin out of control.” No singing or dancing. Script edited to be “G” Rated.

 

TOTS MUSICAL PERFORMANCE CLASS: “Enchanted”

Ages: 3 to 5

Rehearsals: Saturdays, 10:30-11:30 am

Showcase: March 21 at 11:00 am

Tuition $ 165

Directed by Amber Mitchell

Performers in this group will learn selected songs and choreography for a 15-minute condensed version of a classic show performed for family and friends.  Kids do not need to be able to read to participate. One parent or guardian must be present for the class.

 

KIDS MUSICAL PERFORMANCE CLASS: “Beauty and the Beast”

Ages: 6 to 8

Rehearsals: Saturdays, 12:00-2:00 pm

February 14-March 21, 2009

Performances: Sat., March 21 at 1:00 pm and Sun., March 22 at 9:00 am
